Modulr partners with Nomi to improve efficiency of payroll payments

London, 19th February, 2025: Embedded payments leader, Modulr, today announces an exclusive partnership with cloud accounting software provider, Nomi, making it the first integrated payroll payment solution within Nomi to use Faster Payments - the UK’s real-time payment network. This integration will enable accountants and businesses using Nomi to automate and streamline payroll payments - saving time, reducing errors and enhancing payment security.

Payroll processing remains a major administrative burden for UK businesses, especially amid rising wage costs, economic uncertainty, and growing cash flow pressures. Outdated systems and manual processes often lead to inefficiencies, delays, and unnecessary stress for businesses and their employees. In fact, the Global Payroll Association revealed that a quarter (25%) of UK PAYE employees have received an incorrect payslip from their employer, with nearly half of those affected (46%) experiencing this issue more than once. Modulr’s integration with Nomi eliminates the need for Bacs files and manual payment processing, allowing users to make payroll payments seamlessly within the Nomi software.

By leveraging Modulr’s direct access to Faster Payments, accountants and businesses can clear payroll transactions within 90 seconds, including at weekends and bank holidays—removing the traditional three-day Bacs wait time. This ensures employees are paid accurately and on time, every time, while giving businesses more flexibility and control over their financial operations.

Gary Zouvani, Group Operations Director at dns accountants, comments; “We love this latest integration, it saves us so much time and cuts out the potential for human error. We’ll be promoting this to our clients as well!”

"This partnership with Nomi represents more than just faster payroll payments” says Steve Bradford, Managing Director of Channel and Strategic Partnerships at Modulr. “It’s about redefining how businesses can manage cash flow and employee pay cycles in an increasingly on-demand world. The flexibility of real-time payments means businesses can process payroll when it suits them, not when outdated banking rails dictate. This is the future of payroll, where automation and instant payments work together to remove the friction and financial stress that too many businesses and employees still face."

Sandeep Tyagi, Chief Technology Officer at Nomi, says; "The integration of Modulr and Nomi is set to revolutionise how accountants and businesses manage their finances. With instant, automated payments, 24/7 payroll processing, enhanced security, and seamless automation, this partnership delivers unmatched efficiency, flexibility, and a superior payment experience—all within a secure and compliant framework."

About Modulr
Modulr has grown to become the leading provider of embedded payments to organisations across the UK and Europe. Embedded payments is a new category that permits payments to become part of organisations’ technology stack, upgrading them to become payments companies themselves. Modulr enables hundreds of enterprise customers and thousands of SME customers to embed account creation, payment out, reconciliation of payment in, card issuing and many open banking and similar features into their own business process flows via API calls and webhooks into Modulr’s cloud platform. Core to Modulr’s success has been the platform itself, Modulr’s regulatory status as an EMI in the UK and Europe, its connections to payments and other financial service schemes, its ability to operate at scale, and its compliance rigour. Today Modulr handles over £100bn of annualised payment volume and its platform handles on average 30 API calls per second.
